This is usually played in the key of A by fiddlers. G.W. "Devil's Dream" is an Irish song and is also known as "Deil {Devil} Among The Tailors." At one time in certain rural communities, dancing was considered immoral and because fiddle music incited dancers into particular frenzied gyrations, the fiddle was considered a kind of Pied Piper leading listeners down the road to sin. In fact, some believed there was a special place at the very lower end of hell reserved for fiddlers and those that danced to their songs: This lively spot was called 'Fiddler's Green.' Perhaps the picture of evildoers forced by a grinning demon to dance for eternity was the inspiration to this hoedown fiddle tune. . . . . . . One day the Devil decides to take a nap and he has a dream. At first all is well {or rather all is hell}, and then he hears someone playing a fiddle. As he listens, more fiddlers join in, and he smiles and starts to enjoy the music. But being the Devil, he suddenly realizes that he doesn't like the idea of smiling and enjoying himself, especially to someone else's music. He decides to destroy the melody for the fiddler's by changing the harmony, getting loud and vulgar and just in general raising hell with everything. However, in spite of all the Devil's efforts, the fiddler's hang on to the melody, and in the end, the Devil is forced to dance along with Man in glorious unison.CGuitarNylon String Acoustic Guitarh@Standard@;72-( CFloatingTextSee Performance Notes7$Times New RomanLyrics$Times New RomanEADGBE7cTimes New Roman CGuitarIn CTempoMarker CSectionSymbol CSection2 $ CStaff$6 CPosition CLineData# # # ##! !! ` ` ``BB CMusicBar`ASection^ ^2 '0 ! # # # ##! b` ` ```^^2 0!# ! @B @ ` @ d B @#`@d B@# b` `^ ^2 `BSection6 D##D## D # # %#E DE ee e eBEB^^2 f'0 E # E D # # D##D##%#E `d e eee^^2 ;0!# ! @B @ ` @ d B @#`@d B@ b` `^ ^Untitled!h@Bass+&!2 } ArialTimes New RomanTimes New Roman
