He recorded two versions of the song in 1952 {in County Kerry & Belfast}, and most subsequently recordings have been based on the Kerry version. Jansch learned the song from legendary English revivalist singer Anne Briggs and set it to his own unique accompaniment. It was featured on his third album "Jack Orion" {1966}, which was notable for introducing Davey Graham's DADGAD tuning to a much wider audience - although for this piece Jansch preferred dropped-D tuning {DADGBE}, which gives it a gentler feel. Jimmy Page borrowed heavily {and notoriously} from Jansch's arrangement, using it as instrumental on Led Zeppelin's first album entitled "Black Mountainside". This song can also be heard on the John Renbourn Groups recording, "A Maid In Bedlam."ÿÿCGuitarSteel String Acoustic Guitarh@Standard@;72-&ÿÿ CFloatingTextSee Performance Notes & LyricsÁY%Times New Roman€DADGBE9œfªTimes New Romanÿÿ CGuitarInÿÿ CTempoMarkerz ÿÿCSection2 $ € AIntroÿÿCStaff'9ÿÿ CPosition€ÿÿ CLineDataB€€#€€ €€€%d€€'€ €'d€ €'€ € €G€ €'€€(€€€*€!€(€€'€€ €€€€€ €#€@€ €@ €@€B€€€@€€ €d€€b€€ €` €€ €€„€€`€€ € € €…€ €…€ € €€@€€g€€ ÿÿ CMusicBar €R€ €" €2 Í€ €9€€€B€`€ €`€@€b€€€`€€ €#€`€€€!€B€b€ €€!€B€b€ € €!€B€b€ € €!€B€b€€ €!€B€b€€!€B€b€€ €#€@€`€€ €#€@€`€€#€@€` €€ €€ƒ€ € €ƒ€ € €ƒ€ €ƒ€€0€ƒ€€ƒ€€ € €€‚€€0€‚€€‚€€ € R€ €R€ € €2ç ž € €9 €€#€€E€€E€€B€`€ €B€` € €€b€ !€`€ €`€€ €@€€@€€`€€@€`€€€B€`€ €` €@€b€€€`€€ €`€€@€€`€€@€`€€ €B€`€! €` €"@€b€#€€`€$€ €`€%€@€&€`€(€@€`€€@€€€B€!€@€€d€€ €b€€b€€ €`€€ € € € €ƒ€€ €‚€€‚€€£€€ €€ƒ€€‚€€£€€ €$€ƒ€%€‚€'€£R€ €R€€R€€ €2¸ …`€ BVerse €'9€€€B€€#€€ €€€%d€€'€ €'€ €'€ € €G€ €'€€(€€€*€!€(€€'€€ €€€€€ €#€@€ €@ €@€B€€€@€€ €d€€b€€ €`€€€B€`€ €`€ @€b€!€€`€"€ €#€` €€ €€„€€`€€ € € €…€ €…€ € €€@€€g€€ €€ R€ €R€ €"R€ € €2Ÿ N € €9€€€!€B€b€€€!€B€b€€ €!€B€b€€ €!€B€b€€ €!€B€b€ €!€B€b€ € €#€@€`€€ €#€@€`€€#€@€`€€€#€@€ €@ €@€B€€€@€€ €@€€E€€B€`€€ƒ€€ €ƒ€€ €ƒ€€ƒ€€0€ƒ€ €ƒ€ € € € €‚€€0€‚€€‚€€ € €€ €€d€€b€€ €`€€ R€ € R€ € €2h € €9 €€B€` €€€b€!€`€€`€€ €@€€@€€`€€@€`€ € €#€@€ €@ € @€B€€€@€€ €@€€D€`€€€E€!€D€€g€€ €D€€G€€G€d€€G€d€€d €€ €€ƒ€€ €‚€€‚€€£€ € €€d€€¥€€d€€ €€ €€…R€ €R€€ €29 ߀ €9€€@€€€B€!€@€€d€€ €@€€@€€ €B€`€ €` €@€b€ €€`€ € €`€ €@€ €`€€@€`€€@€`€€€`€€€b€€ €d€€€€e€€e€‚€€e€€€d€!€b€€`€€ €b €€‚€€ € €ƒ€ €‚€€£€€ €€¥€€‚€€ €€ R€ €R€€ €2ù Ÿ‚€ €9€€ €B€`€@€b€!€€`€€`€€ €@€€@€€`€ €@€`€ € €B€`€ @€b€!€€`€€`€€ €@€€@€€`€€@€`€€ €B€`€@€b€!€€`€€`€€ €@€€@€€`€€@€`€€ €€ƒ€€ €‚€€‚€€£€ € €€ƒ€€ €‚€€‚€€£€€ €€ƒ€€ €‚€€‚€€£R€ €R€€ €2¹ ‘ €CCODA €!9€€€D€€F€€G€€F e€€#€ € €D€ €F€ €G€€F e€€#€€€D€€F€€G€€F e€€#€€€'€€'€€@€€ €€ €#€!€F e€#€#€€ €€€‚€€€„€€ € €€…€€ € € €€‚€ €€„€ € € € €…€€€ €€€‚€€€„€€ € €€…€€€ €€g€ €d€"R€€R€€R€€ €2« n € €9€€€D€€F€€G€€F e€€#€ € €D€ €F€ €G€€F e€€#€€€D€€F€€G€€F e€€#€€#€€ €€€‚€€€„€€ € €€…€€ € € €€‚€ €€„€ € € € €…€€€ €€€‚€€€„€€ € €€…€€R€€R€€R€€€Untitled!h@Bass+&!€ €2 }€ € ArialTimes New RomanTimes New Roman
